United Way will invest in organizations, networks and programs that spark dialogue and action to improve equity in Brevard. Achieving greater social justice requires a commitment and a sustained effort that can only be accomplished when all parties come together to act united.
United Way of Brevard Statement Against Racism
Our mission is to be Brevard’s leader in mobilizing the caring power of our community. Our vision is that in our community all individuals and families thrive. We seek to engage the entire community in our work without regard to race, religion, national origin, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity, disability, sexual orientation, veteran-status, familial status or socio-economic status.
Our United Way recognizes that racism in our society has contributed to disparities for many members of our community. The discord displayed throughout our country and in our community is a signal to our United Way that we must do more to overcome injustice and inequity.
To do this, we will:
COMMIT to an ongoing journey of listening, learning and growing as an organization that holds our leadership, our staff and our partners accountable in this work
PARTNER with the public and private sectors to create solutions that lift up our most underserved communities and create lasting change
SEEK out opportunities to build relationships with, and invest in, organizations that serve and are led by members of our minority communities
Together, we will strive to reduce and eliminate racism as we seek to increase tolerance and inclusion for a better Brevard. Our United Way has a role to play in building a more equitable future for everyone in our community.
